The Full Story
The Canine Companion project was founded by four Mechatronics Engineering Students at the University of Waterloo as part of their Engineering Capstone project. During COVID-19, the number of dogs that were either adopted or fostered increased by 30-70%. The founders of this project identified a need for an Automatic Dog Feeder since pet owners will eventually return to work after the pandemic and there will be no one to feed and care for their dog during the day.
This project was founded due to the fact that there is no other product like it on the market. There exists no such item where a pet-owner is able to feed their dog, control dispensing amounts from an app, and interact with their pet.
The team consists of Ambreen Visram, Bobby Nguyen, Liza Wilson and Nubain Soomro who are all 4B Mechatronics Engineering students at the University of Waterloo.
